Nintendo has announced additional details regarding the upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Sanrio collaboration amiibo cards. The cards will be sold in sets exclusively in Target stores later this month.

Sanrio is the company responsible for Hello Kitty and her friends. The collaboration will include My Melody, Keroppi, and more with new residents, styles, and items.

The cards all feature a villager plus a collection of items. Rilla will have Hello Kitty items. Marty has a selection of Pompompurin goods, while Etoile has Little Twin Star items. Chelsea brings with her a selection of My Melody goods, while Chai has Cinnamoroll items. Last, Toby has traditional Japanese zen items for Keroppi.

All of the special guests have matching outfits to represent their Sanrio theme. The trailer shows the island representative changing into a special outfit, with either a dress or hat to match the occasion.

Fortunately for players, one pack of amiibo cards contains six cards. Players won’t have to buy multiple packs to collect their favorite characters or items.

Scanning an amiibo card is simple. First, players will have to upgrade Resident Services into a building and then build the Campsite. From there, players can invite the visiting village to live on their island. Sometimes, a visiting villager will ask for an item to be crafted for them.

If their island is full, then they will have to ask one resident to leave. After completing the required steps, players have to wait for the villager to move in permanently.

Players hold up the figure or card to the sensor on their Nintendo Switch to gain access to various Sanrio items.

There is a second method to scanning an amiibo card or figure for a poster of a particular NPC or resident. Players will first need to unlock Harvey’s Island.

If scanning through Harvey’s Island, players have to invite the villager to take part in photoshops. After scanning the card, players can then access their poster using the NookStop in Resident Services.

The collaboration comes in the same month as the long-awaited Super Mario Bros.-themed furniture and clothing. Players will only have access to the Mario-themed goods for a limited time but celebrate the 35th anniversary of the series.

The new collaboration items will be available on March 18. Nintendo warns in the announcement trailer that an update is coming around this time.
