As a note, we’ll make mention of the story moments in the World of Warcraft: ShadowlandsScourge Rising event! If you’re trying to avoid any story moment spoilers until you can do the content yourself, turn away now!

Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: Shadowlandsprepatch event, the Scourge Invasion, is well underway with the first week ending this Tuesday. The event doesn’t have a massive amount of content, and most players were able to finish the majority of the content pretty quickly.

One of the endlessly-replayable parts, however, is the constantly-spawning rare mobs in Icecrown. These mobs drop Scourgestones as well as 110-level epic-quality gear – with some having some special goodies, like a 34-slot bag or a rare mount.

Unfortunately, these mobs spawn every 20 minutes, with a minute of invulnerability as well. Because of this, many players have gotten tired of flying to a new spot every 20 minutes and just standing around while they wait.

So what can you do to pass the time while you wait for the next rare spawn to pop up? Thankfully, there are still a few tasks that you can do while you wait!

If you haven’t finished the questline that takes place in Icecrown for the event, you have time between rare mobs to knock out another few quests in it. The questline is short, so you likely won’t have too much trouble finishing it quickly.

Otherwise, you may have skipped the quest to take down Nathanos Blightcaller, as it’s a separate sidequest from the rest. If you skipped it, you might have time to run to the Eastern Plaguelands and knock him down to grab a 115-level item.

The dominant way to pass time is by finding an area to farm up Scourgestones in. These items are turned in 25 at a time to earn Argent Commendations, used to purchase the 100-level gear from the Quartermaster for the event.

One of the best places to do this is in east Icecrown in an area called Scourgeholme. This zone has rapidly-spawning ghouls as well as elite mobs, making both types of Scourgestones farmable. However, two of the rares spawn close to Scourgeholme, so you may have competition.

Of course, most people have taken to just minimizing World of Warcraft after flying to the spawn for the next rare and waiting for the 20 minutes to pass. If you want to be a bit more productive and knock out some farming while you wait, Scourgeholme (and Sindragosa’s Fall!) might be right for you.
