World of Warcraft (WoW): Classic is rounding out players’ PvP experience by bringing in two battlegrounds ahead of schedule.

The developer of WoW Classic, Blizzard, initially introduced a six phase content release schedule, with Phase 2 just happening a week ago.

However, in a forum post on the Blizzard website, a Community Manager announced that Warsong Gulch and Alterac Valley will be coming to WoW Classic realms the week of December 10th.

The launch of these battlegrounds was coming with Phase 3 but with the positive reception from their implementation of the PvP Honor System last week, they’ve decided to bring battlegrounds in earlier.

Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulch were going to be released with other staples of the long running franchise, Dark Moon Faire and the beloved 40-person raid Blackwing Lair.

However, the PvE content can wait, according to developers. WoW Classic has received amazing reviews from players and critics alike, including being crowned the Golden Joystick PC Game of the Year, and it looks Blizzard wants to keep the good vibes rolling.

The actual launch date for the two battlegrounds has not been released yet, but it will be the week of December 10th.

Alterac Valley and Warsong Gulch truly are the pioneer battlegrounds.

Alterac Valley:

This battleground will start at the 1.12 version, which is much different then Alterac Valley WoW players have been fighting it out in recently.
1.12 takes places before the introduction of reinforcements as a key element. It is also before the removal of all Commanders and Lieutenants.

The way the Horde or Alliance will win this battleground is by the one condition of killing an elite Alterac Valley boss. The Horde will try and down the leader of the Stormpike Guard, Vanndar Stormpike, and the Alliance will go after the leader and elder of the Frostwolf Clan, Drek’thar.

The reason for starting at the 1.12 version is because there were too many NPCs to kill in the earlier versions. By 1.12, many of the NPCs were nerfed or taken out of the game. Also, turning in armor scraps became a viable option in the battleground by 1.12, and there was a better balance found for the opposing capture points.

Warsong Gulch

Warsong Gulch is a simple, capture the flag battleground. Alliance and Horde start in their keeps, and when the match starts, they will stealth or storm there way to the opposing fortress, grab the enemy flag, and take it back to their own base.

The forum post also mentioned that the arrival of the two battlegrounds with be accompanied by “Elemental Invasions in Kalimdor, with Blazing, Thundering, Watery, and Whirling Invaders appearing in Un’goro Crater, Azshara, Winterspring, and Silithus respectively.”

WoW Classic is continually getting great content, including the addition of two old school world raid bosses.
