When Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood was officially announced at last year’s E3 event, many were pleased to find an appealing game where players could take on the role of a shape-shifting werewolf.

It showed a lot of great elements, such as the ability to transform with the press of a button and the rage management mechanics. It has been quite some time since we had any more news on the action-adventure game based on the original tabletop.

Finally, there is a new trailer that further demonstrates gameplay. The game is scheduled to release in February so this gameplay trailer comes at the perfect time. It shows a user playing with the game’s main protagonist, Cahal.

His shapeshifting abilities are shown right out of the gate. As mentioned earlier, there are three forms that feature different capabilities and gameplay. For example, when transformed into the wolf, players can move much faster. It seems like a particularly helpful form when moving across large areas or trying to get away from attacks quickly.

Another takeaway from the trailer is Cahal’s ability to quickly switch between the different options. Players can mix in a combination of all three if they want depending on what the situation calls for.

That design makes this game pretty dynamic and should keep players on their toes as they come across different challenges and threats, which should get progressively worse with time.

If you’re not able to approach the game from a stealth standpoint as a human or wolf, the werewolf form seems like the best version for taking on multiple threats or opponents with heavy-duty armor. The sequences shown in the trailer showcase a powerhouse with exceptional strength and attacks.

As you fight in the werewolf state, rage begins to build. It’s needed to execute special attacks that can do a ton of damage in a short period of time. If you weren’t excited about Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood’s potential, you probably are now if you’ve checked out the trailer above.

The multiple forms are a huge selling point for a game that’s in an already crowded space. Hopefully, the story is just as dynamic as to give this game a lot of great elements to look forward to heading into its February launch. The developer is clearly taking this game in a unique direction as far as gameplay. Very rarely do we get werewolf games of this caliber and that’s exciting.
