According to a recent interview with Sonic Frontiers director Morio Kishimoto, the blue hedgehog may need to resort to his trademark Super Sonic form to defeat certain foes in the future game. The release date for Sonic Frontiers, the next game in the series, is November 8, 2022.

Sonic, the protagonist of the series, will be in this game, and he will be venturing across an unknown landscape filled with open areas.
Sonic Frontiers, Sega’s latest entry in the Sonic series, may be up against some tough competition. Initial reactions to Sonic Frontiers were mixed before considering the mediocre reception of previous editions like Sonic Forces.

However, recent demonstrations have shown the game in a more favorable light. While first impressions are often difficult to overcome, Sonic Frontiers has at least promised to spice up the 3D Sonic formula.

Director Morio Kishimoto recently told IGN that “blue Sonic can’t even scratch” several bosses in Sonic Frontiers. This confirms the latest trailer for Frontiers presented at TGS 2022, uploaded to YouTube by the official Sonic the Hedgehog channel and featured Sonic transforming into Super Sonic to battle a massive foe.

However, given that Super Sonic has only been employed for the game’s final match, Kishimoto suggests that Sonic Frontiers’ bosses may be more challenging than longtime fans of the series may expect.

Fans of the Sonic series will be happy to know that Super Sonic and the Chaos Emeralds will play a significant role in the story of Frontiers, which is shaping up to be the most content-packed Sonic game to date.

Super Sonic’s transition into a completely different form of Sonic with a new set of abilities has been confirmed by Sega, while the specifics of how this will work remain unknown. As combat is a significant part of Frontiers, the revamp could provide players with a wide array of new tools for overcoming adversaries.
