Ghost of Tsushima is the latest in a long line of Sony exclusive hits for the PlayStation. The game received a wealth of critical acclaim and commercial success, quickly becoming the fastest selling new IP in the history of the PlayStation 4.

This feudal Japan era adventure moved 2 million copies in its first three days of release, and Sucker Punch is about to sweeten the pot with a free update that includes a number of new elements launching on October 16.

The official technical name for this update is Version 1.1, however Sony has given it a new, somewhat more exciting title.

The Legend Update.

It’s called the Legend update because this free enhancement will officially launch Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a new co-op multiplayer adventure for four players that was heavily inspired by Japanese mythology.

You’ll be able to choose from four different classes of characters. They are Ronin, Samurai, Hunter, and Assassin. Each class comes with different equipment, weapons, cosmetics, and abilities.

The Ronin class is a support role, healing and reviving players. They also have the ability to summon a ghost dog, which is awesome to say the least.

Samurai players are your standard tanks. They focus on up close and personal attacks and can regenerate their own health during a battle. The Hunters are your long range fighters, equipped with a range of different arrows for long distance combat. Assassins are the sneak up and slice someone’s throat class, and they have some kind of teleportation ability.

Legends is narrated by Gyozen the storyteller. He tells the tale of two story based campaigns that are rooted in Japanese folklore. While the main story of Ghost of Tsushima was rooted in reality, Legends will take a turn into the supernatural.

There is also a survival mode where your team will have to survive against attacking hordes, with rewards given based on the duration of your survival.

Finally, you have raid, where you have to complete a three-stage mission in Iyo’s realm. Sony has said that this mode will rely on both skill and coordination between team members.

Another exciting feature being added as part of the Legend Update is the addition of a New Game+ mode for the single player campaign. This allows you to restart the game after beating it with all of your weapons and levels intact.

New Game+ is a popular feature in modern gaming, and most games add it as a feature after they’ve been out for a while.

Ghost of Tsushima is currently available on the PlayStation 4. Update 1.1 will release for free on October 16, 2020.
