Mortal Kombat 11‘s Kombat Pack add-on comes with several new characters and updates for the game. The add-on first came out on April 23rd, only two days after the game’s release. But the pack was designed to offer recurring content long after its purchase. That’s why there’s new characters still coming out for it.

On August 19th, the latest DLC character, Nightwolf, will be available for early access for Kombat Pack owners only. The Nightwolf character first debuted in Mortal Kombat 3 and is known for his ability to transform into a wolf for specials and his use of ranged attacks.

In Mortal Kombat 11, Nightwolf’s character sports a hooded cowl and red paint covering his face. He can summon an ethereal bow and wields a machete that he draws from his back. Nightwolf can also summon ghost-like animals to fight for him: a bear, a wolf, and a hawk.

His finishing combo involves ripping-off the front half of his opponent’s body, exposing the vital organs, and detaching their heart using his hatchet. Brutal.

Nightwolf is not the first character released with the Kombat Pack. Developers previously released Shang Tsung, the evil warlock character who absorbs his enemies’ souls to maintain his youth. Shang Tsung’s character design almost exactly resembles Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, the actor from the 1995 Mortal Kombat film. Nightwolf is only the second character released so far.

There are two other confirmed characters to come. The first character is Sindel, the mother of Princess Kitana. The second is Spawn from Image Comics. Additionally, developers will include another two characters. So far, these characters have only been hinted at, but they are presumably Ash, from Evil Dead, and Terminator. Fans will have to wait and see if those rumors turn out to be true.

The add-on caught a lot of flak on Steam last month after the Shang Tsung character failed to materialize on the day developers promised he would. For this reason, as of now, the Steam reviews for the Kombat pack are listed as ‘mixed.’

The new characters are not the only thing Mortal Kombat 11‘s Kombat Pack has on offer. The DLC add-on also includes seven exclusive character skins and seven unique sets of gear for the characters. Kombat Pack owners also get each of the characters one week before they are released as regular DLC.

The Kombat Pack is still available for purchase on the PlayStation Store for $39.99. Buy in if you are looking for some new characters in general or Nightwolf in particular.
