League of Legends has a new champion coming out before too much longer, ready to jump into the center of the stage. There's only one problem - her spot on stage is already taken. \n \nSeraphine is the newest champion announced for the MOBA titan, but players aren't too happy to see her for a variety of reasons. More than anything, Seraphine is seeming like Sona 2.0. \n \nTo compare and contrast their kits, they really are alarmingly similar. But one doesn't even have to go as far as looking at abilities to see why the two characters are being compared as overly similar, with Sona's musician-themed magic role being stepped on rather thoroughly. \n \nBut once one does look at their kits, the similarities are alarming. To paraphrase Seraphine's abilities, we have the following: \n \n \tPassive: Stage Presence - Every third basic ability Seraphine casts will echo, automatically casting a second time. Ability casts near an ally create a Note, with each Note giving her basci attacks more attack range and additional magic damage. \n \tQ: High Note - Seraphine projects a pure note, dealing magic damage that's increased by the target's missing health percentage. \n \tW: Surround Sound - Seraphine grants herself and allies movement speed and a shield, opting to heal nearby allies if already shielded. \n \tE: Beat Drop - Seraphine deals magic damage and slows enemies in a line. Enemies already slowed are rooted, enemies already rooted are stunned. \n \tR - Encore - Seraphine deals magic damage and stuns champions nearby, including allies. \n \nhttps:\/\/twitter.com\/LeagueOfLegends\/status\/1316063844628865025?s=20 \n \nIf you're familiar with Sona, that's all you really need to know, but just to make sure the parallels are clear, Sona does the following: \n \n \tPassive: Power Chord - After three spell casts, Sona's next attack deals additional damage with an extra effect based on the last activated song. \n \tQ: Hymn of Valor - Deals magic damage to two nearby enemies, granting bonus damage to nearby allies. \n \tW: Aria of Perseverance - Heals Sona and a nearby ally, granting an aura that grants allies a temporary shield. \n \tE: Song of Celerity - Grants nearby allies bonus movement speed, giving a bonus aura with the same effect. \n \tR: Crescendo - Sona deals damage and stuns champions in a line, not affecting allies. \n \nComparing and contrasting highlights how unbelievably similar the kits are. Near-identical ultimates, passives both based on a three-count metric, a damaging ability, a heal, and a slow? \n \nReally, Seraphine is shockingly similar to Sona, and the fact that their lore and theme draws them into further parallels only worsens the comparisons that people are highlighting. \n \nExacerbating the issue is that Sona mains have long been calling for a rework to the APC\/Support's kit for quite some time. With this change, it feels very much like the update they wanted for their champion simply went to creating another instead.
