Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki has slowly been releasing new details about the game. In a recent video, the creator details all of the smaller details fans may miss, but longtime players haven’t forgotten.

Previous installments in the series have Ryo looking for “Lucky Hit” challengers and driving a forklift. While there are more important things to do, like avenging his father’s death, these mini-games take away some of Ryo’s everyday stress.

The trailer is in Japanese, but English translation should appear when enabling captions.

The new official video shows off some mini-games coming to Shenmue III.

Ryo can also show off his style with the appearance changing system. He can change his jacket, shirt, pants, and shoes. Players can give Ryo an exciting new outfit or keep him in his traditional garb.

Part-time jobs return to the series. This time, it’s not limited to forklift driving. But longtime fans don’t need to be worried. As shown in the video, forklift driving will make a comeback for those who loved driving these machines in previous games.

Other part-time jobs include fishing and chopping wood. They’re all menial jobs anyone can do, but they also must be done, and Ryo’s the perfect person for the job.

Another small edition, though not a mini-game, are some little details that make the world of Shenmue III feel more realistic. Ryo can now open and close drawers and cabinets. It may ultimately be useless, but it gives gamers more to interact with.

There’s also a mini-game similar to Virtua Fighter called Chobo-Chan Fighter. The fighting game features battles against chicken opponents. Ryo’s forklift driving part-time job will also have him moving around Chobo-Chan Fighter arcade cabinets.

Shenmue III is a sequel to the previous two games set in 1980s China and once again stars the protagonist, Ryo.

According to the Steam game page: “Shenmue III sees the eagerly anticipated continuation of the epic story-driven saga. Take control of Ryo Hazuki, a teenage martial artist, determined to unravel the mystery behind his father’s murder and to exact revenge on the killer.”

The game was developed by YS Net and Neilo and will be published by Deep Silver.

Shenmue III will be released on the PlayStation 4 and PC on November 19, 2019.
