PAX East wrapped up in Boston today, bringing an end to a convention that had Final Fantasy VII Remake at the core of its festivities.

While games like The Last of Us Part II pulled their presence in the wake of the ongoing scare caused by the Wuhan coronavirus, Final Fantasy VII Remake showed up in force.

There were photo ops, gifts, signings, and a playable demo for the game made available to fans.

But one of the highlights of the event for a number of fans was the presence of members of the English voice cast for the long-awaited title.

If you attended PAX East, you likely got to meet some of the voices behind Avalanche, including Aerith, Barret, Tifa, Jessie, and Biggs.

These cast members assembled for a photo around Cloud’s motorcycle, which was then tweeted out by the game’s official Twitter account.

“Don’t mess with the Avalanche crew,” Square Enix said in the tweet. “Left to right we have the Final Fantasy VII Remake voice actors: Jessie, Aerith, Biggs, Barret, and Tifa!”

Final Fantasy VII characters have been voiced in other media before. The first time anyone ever heard a character from Final Fantasy VII speak, it was in the original Kingdom Hearts on the PlayStation 2.

After that, the story of Final Fantasy VII continued in a CGI movie called Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. Then there was Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus, Kingdom Hearts 2, and other pieces of media that called for these iconic characters to be voiced.

This voice cast is mostly all new, and some of the characters coming to life in this game have never been given a voice before. While we’ve heard other actors create the voices of Aerith, Tifa, and Barret before, this will be the first time we’ve ever heard the voices of Avalanche soldiers Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie in any form of media.

Some members of the cast have even joined Aerith voice actress Briana White as she plays through the original 1997 release of Final Fantasy VII for the first time on her YouTube channel. White’s channel, called Strange Rebel Gaming, is a popular game streaming YouTube page where she has played through titles like Uncharted, Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, and God of War.

Originally, Final Fantasy VII Remake was supposed to come out this week, on March 3, 2020. However, the game was recently delayed another five weeks, and will now release worldwide on the PlayStation 4 console on April 10, 2020.
