Apex Legends Season 10 starts on August 3rd, 2021. It will be called Emergence and feature a bunch of fresh changes to the game, including a new legend, Seer, a new weapon, the Rampage LMG, and significant changes to World’s Edge.

A brand new Stories from the Outlands, Metamorphosis, adds a bit of lore for the new legend, Seer, in typical Apex fashion. The art style is unique, as always, and shows just how much effort goes into these short productions.

What do we know about Seer so far? Not much, beyond the name. More details will be revealed over the next couple of weeks with exact abilities and more, although there are one or two hints already.

The official release page for Emergence tells us that seer has “microdrones” and an “artist’s eye”, it’ll be interesting to see whether another Drone hero in Apex fits into the meta or falls to the side like our poor boy Crypto.

World’s Edge is the next area of the game which is getting changed. Whole new areas of the map are going to be destroyed, as is the general pattern of map updates in Apex. From some teasers so far (thanks to @shrugtal, as ever) it looks like the sky block is back to its usual bright blue. If that’s true it’s great news. Anything to get rid of that weird red stain.

It’ll be another new weapon with the arrival of Season 10: the Rampage LMG, apparently designed by Rampart. Another LMG, you say? After the Spitfire dominating the meta for several months? Oh yes, it’s another LMG. It has a “surprising source of firepower”, which is interesting, and might suggest a new ammo type?

Lastly, Ranked Arenas will also make an appearance for Season 10. There are unique ranks for both Arenas and the regular Ranked mode, although it seems like you might get an extra-special badge if you each Apex Predator in both types of the ranked playlist.

Overall, despite Emergence getting the hype back for Apex, it’s still been a difficult few weeks for Respawn‘s Battle Royale. Public discourse over the increased rate of hackers has left many competitive players feeling burned out, with #SaveApexRanked even trending on Twitter a couple of weeks back.

Will the new season be enough? We’ll see.
