Some lucky players have been discovering an Easter egg involving Nessie in Gun Run, a new chaotic LTM introduced in Season 14 of Apex Legends. Even if Respawn Entertainment has added a unique heirloom for Loba in this content update for the game, Gun Run, which is part of the Beast of Prey Collection Event, is likely the major attraction.

Apex Legends’ Gun Run is inspired by the famous Call of Duty variant Gun Game and features four teams of three players racing to score a kill using 25 weapons from the battle royale. Sections in this game are usually given names like “Wolf,” “Tiger,” “Bear,” and “Eagle,” although these aren’t the only options. A concealed fifth name based on the Loch Ness Monster is also permissible for teams.

Some players have found out that their team in Gun Game can be named Nessie with the release of the Beast of Prey Collection Event in Apex Legends, and they’ve taken to social media to share the news. For instance, Twitter user Matthew Mantasia uploaded a clip of themselves and their squad, Nessie Squad, competing in the LTM under that alias. Plus, Reddit user Shadytheruler provided a photo of themselves with the unusual team.

Not only have fans reacted to this new easter egg, but so have non-fans. In response to Fatthew Mantasia’s gameplay footage on Twitter, Respawn Entertainment’s Senior Technical Experience Designer Justin Masse discussed the Nessie squad. The creator has even provided some context for the Easter egg, saying that it is “scarce” to come across in the game.

This only occurs once per thousand games, and even then, a player has only a one in four chance of having their squad selected as the Nessie Squad from among the teams in the battle.

It’s entertaining to observe the fine-tuning that the creators at Respawn Entertainment placed into the battle royale and the other game modes.
