Bandai Namco announced a familiar name is returning to the Tekken 7 soon. Masked fighter Kunimitsu will rejoin the cast as part of the Season 4 Pass. The announcement was made during the recent Tokyo Game Show 2020 online event.

The new Kunimitsu is the first Kunimitsu warrior’s daughter, but the name continues on in the second generation. The announcement was made with a new trailer showcasing Kunimitsu’s fighting skills, along with her declaration that “The blade belongs to me now.” The trailer ends with the fighter removing her mask.

Kunimitsu first made her debut appearance in Tekken as the sub-boss for Michelle Chang. She is well-known for her white fox mask that she keeps on during battle, along with a short blade. The character would again appear in Tekken 2, both Tekken Tag Tournament games, and Tekken Revolution.

The debut trailer for the second Kunimitsu only shows the daughter in action. It’s unknown what happened to the original Kunimitsu, but players do know that the Kunimitsu is still alive and well.

The new Kunimitsu has a similar appearance to her mother with long, reddish hair. Instead of wearing her hair in twin tails, she has a single ponytail. The second Kunimitsu instead has two fox tails on her back. Both warriors wear purple and black clothing along with white books, but the daughter wears a full body costume.

There are many similarities between the mother and daughter physically, and both use short blades. The daughter has a long sword that she is seen using in her character render.

Kunimitsu will debut in Tekken 7 has part of the fourth Season Pass. The game debuted in 2017 but has continued to release new seasons yearly. Bandai Namco first announced Season 4 was in the works during the Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable in late July.

The Season 4 announcement also hinted at a character standing on the roof of a pagoda with Mt. Fuji in the background. The character is very far away from the screen, but it’s most likely this character was Kunimitsu.

Bandai Namco also announced additional free updates coming in the future. Players can expect new techniques, UI and online play improvements, and more.

There is currently no release date for Tekken 7’s Season Pass 4, but players can expect it soon.
