Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is set after the Dungeon Defenders sequel, but with many of the qualities and gameplay that fans loved from the original. The game also saw some updates for modern devices. The game later entered Steam Early Access in early 2020 before its official launch in 2020.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is a co-op action RPG with tower defense elements. The game can be enjoyed with up to four other players. Players can enjoy looting, leveling, adopting pets, and character customization.

Players can choose from multiple heroes on their quest to fight off enemies invading Etheria. Characters include the Squire, Huntress, Apprentice, and Monk. While these heroes are powerful on their own, players have to build and utilize an arsenal of blockades, towers, traps, and auras to protect the Eternia Crystals.

In Dungeon Defenders: Awakened, players can decide their own unique strategies and battle styles. The only goal is to win.

While fighting off the hordes of enemies, players will gain large quantities of loot. There are several weapons to choose from, such as swords, crossbows, staves, polearms, axes, grenade launchers, beam sabers, and more.

With so many weapons to choose from, players can also decide their character’s playstyle and weapon. The character is fully customizable, from their appearance, the gear they use, where and how to build defenses, and more.

The game will have a day one update that makes the Xbox version the same as the Steam edition. This includes 15 Campaign maps that are playable in seven different difficulty levels, Rift and Hardcore Modes for a greater challenge and online co-op. Another Xbox patch will be released in the future with quality of life updates and performance improvements not included in the initial release or day one update.

While the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch ports have been announced, their release dates are not yet known. Preorders for the Xbox editions will open on the Microsoft Store began on March 3.
