The Sims team has released a new patch for The Sims 4. The update should automatically download and install on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The update comes days before the upcoming launch of the Game Pack Star Wars: Journey To Batuu.

Before starting the update, PC users who have mods and custom content installed should remove the content from their “Mods” folder. This is always suggested in case something happens during the update process. After the update is installed, players will need to re-enable custom content and/or script mods before loading a Sim family. Script mods should not be added back into the “Mods” folder until they’ve been updated for the most recent patch.

The new update is numbered PC: 1.66.139.1020, Mac: 1.66.139.1220, and Console: Version 1.31. The update resolves some critical issues as well as some updates to existing features.

The biggest feature is an update for windows. Builders can now stack windows above each other without using the “bb.moveobjects” cheat. This is important for many who build custom homes and have to remind downloads to enable the cheat before placing the lot on the home.

PlayStation 4 players have a specific update for improved gameplay. The game has now freed up additional memory to decrease load times or patch crashes when Sims are traveling or transitioning from Build/Buy mode.

A majority of the updates were for The Sims 4 base game. They included a few fixes for the UI and other graphics issues. Discover University, Eco Lifestyle, Realm of Magic, and Nifty Knitting also saw a few updates.

A few files and folders were also adjusted for PC and Mac players:

Last but not least, we have also made a change for PC and Mac in which there will be a new folder auto-generated in The Sims 4 called “ConfigOverride”. Inside this folder, players can place a copy of Default.ini, GraphicsCards.sgr, and/or GraphicsRules.sgr which will override these files where the game is located. So, if you edited these files before, you can now edit them in the new folder.

The full list of patch notes is available on The Sims 4 official forums. Unfortunately, there are still some lingering issues, such as non-stop cake making and an obsession with clay molding.

After most DLC releases, The Sims team launches another patch to resolve any player-reported issues. Some may want to wait until after the new Game Pack is out to update their script mods.

The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey To Batuu launches on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 8.
