There have been some great horror games to come out in the last couple of months or so, but one that has certainly garnered a lot of attention has been Little Nightmares 2.

It released last month to overwhelmingly positive reviews. Gamers have cited its atmospheric tension, compelling score, and creative puzzles as to why they’ve enjoyed their time as Mono — the game’s main protagonist who sets out on an adventure with his companion Six to The Signal Tower in hopes of finding out more about the humming transmission that is affecting everything around him.

It’s a pretty compelling journey and a great follow-up to the original Little Nightmares. It thus comes as no surprise that even though it has only been out for one month, Little Nightmares 2 has already sold over 1 million copies. That’s a pretty impressive feat that any game developer would be lucky to receive.

Tarsier Studios has a lot to be proud of with this horror puzzle game that is just as atmospheric and fun to play as the original. It’s not one of these games that will scare the living daylights out of you with jump scares left and right, although some moments are very unsettling.

Little Nightmares 2is more about capturing the aesthetics of a nightmare. Otherworldly creatures constantly try to stop your pursuits in this game and at times, you feel completely helpless.

That’s the same feeling people have in their own nightmares so the developer really hit this element perfectly. Also, some nightmares don’t really make sense. They take on a form of their own and the same could be said with various aspects of this game.

Considering how much positive feedback this game has already had in the short time it has been out, we might possibly get a trilogy. That would be amazing to see as the developer could continue pushing the boundaries in this ever-growing series.

Of course, they already have a pretty great foundation to build off of. The large figures in the background are extremely intimidating as you try to make your way through levels as a captivating protagonist. Mono is easy to root for and the fact that he has help from Six — who showed up in the original — is just a major plus.

The developer could follow up with another interesting character in the next installment, possibly incorporating Mono and Six as playable characters in some capacity. Either way, Little Nightmares 2 is the surprise hit that many are absolutely loving at the moment.
