There’s something that’s been piquing everyone’s interest a bit more in the video that they released celebrating this anniversary. World of Warcraft fans that have been looking forward to discovering what comes next with World of Warcraft: Classic for quite some time now.

To be clear, the rumors here aren’t confirmed in the least, but it’s lending credence to what’s been a long-time rumor for the community. Take it with a grain of salt!

Through the ninety-second video, viewers watch bits of cinematics and cosplays from their favorite Blizzard IPs, from Overwatch and StarCraft to Diablo and Warcraft as they hear a heartwarming narration about these games as the home of the players.

Towards the end of the video, a snippet of the trailer for the first World of Warcraft expansion, The Burning Crusade, appears. Viewers see Illidan Stormrage turn with the skull of Gul’dan before taking to the air with his wings in the iconic “You are not prepared” scene.

The inclusion of this particular cinematic, which is much older than the rest of the content being shown in the video, has the World of Warcraft: Classic community abuzz. There’s been long-standing rumors that this would be the direction that Classic took, and many have been wanting to see it since launch.

Again, this is completely unconfirmed, and there’s no guarantee that this is being included for that reason. The scene is undoubtedly one of the most iconic snippets of anything in the Warcraft universe, and may have been included for that very reason.

Still, there wasn’t any inclusion from most of the other World of Warcraft expansions, just dropping in bits of Legion and Battle for Azeroth, the two most recent expansions (not counting the current Shadowlands of course). Because of this uniqueness, many are taking it as a sign.

Either way, we’ll likely know for certain soon. BlizzConline – the online substitute for Blizzcon this year – is coming up fast, and it’s highly likely that Blizzard will make the announcement of what they intend to do with Classic during the event.

Whether this will be The Burning Crusade or not is impossible to tell, but many are certainly hoping to see that be the announcement later this week. Make sure to tune into BlizzConline and keep your eyes open for news regarding the confirmation or denial of the rumor!
