True story here: Cyberpunk 2077 is actually set to release this time after almost a decade of waiting.

We first saw this in May of 2012, with a trailer being offered in January 2013; since then it has been relative silence up to the past year when release dates were set and struck with what felt like reckless abandon.

Now, however, the time appears to actually be nigh: set up your time off with work (you could tell them you have the flu; we’d suggest against using COVID-19 as everyone will get their noses plunged), and ensure that you have a healthy variety of snacks to keep you company.

CD Projekt Red has published a tweet that outlines precisely when the hotly anticipated title will be dropping, and in some regions, it’s actually December 9th: which means that the Steam release date for some (that has had December 9th as the release for roughly a month) is accurate.

If you’re in the UK, you’ll experience the classic midnight release. Conversely, if you’re in the United States it’s finally your lucky day: residents of the United States (and generally west of UK) will be able to play Cyberpunk 2077 in the afternoon and early evening of December 9, 2020.

That’s less than a week away if you’re keeping track along with millions of others.

If you’re in the eastern hemisphere, you shouldn’t fret too much: Cyberpunk 2077 will unlock on the planned date of December 10, ranging from midnight to 1300 NZT.

The entire world will get their hands on Cyberpunk 2077 at the same time with this method, although some are apparently confused as to how to discover where they live within the world and how that time will affect them. The release date is centered on the Polish studio, which causes the ripple across the globe in a unique fashion that admittedly is not typically seen.

The most recent delay has been attributed to current generation consoles (being the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) although recent news regarding the PlayStation 5 having issues with turning into a paperweight has more than a few eyebrows raised: Cyberpunk 2077 is undoubtedly going to be a bit more power-hungry than Cold War and it’s currently unknown precisely how deep this issue with Sony’s recent console actually runs.

We’ll likely need to wait and see, and on that note comes thankfully decent news. The wait for Cyberpunk 2077 is finally near its end; here’s hoping you’re ready, Samurai.
