EA and maxis have announced the next expansion pack for The Sims 4. Snowy Escape will bring several Winter-themed activities like snowboarding, along with a brand new world. The announcement was first made on The Sims 4’s social media accounts on Monday.

The game will take place in a Japanese-inspired world, complete with pagodas, train stations, and hot spring baths. New worlds often contain community lots with activities for all Sims, plus a few new houses for Sims to reside in.

The trailer first introduces some of the new outdoor activities. Sims will get to snowboard or ski down snowy hills or even ride in a sled with another Sim. Sims can also challenge their fitness levels by climbing mountain peaks. For Sims who want a calmer outdoor activity, they can go on hikes or trails and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

For Sims who want to relax after a long day on the slopes, or don’t like joining in on the action, can relax in the natural hot springs. The hot springs are large enough for multiple Sims to join together and socialize. After relaxing in the hot springs, Sims can take their socializing indoors and sit by the kotatsu table for food and drinks.

The new expansion will contain new Japanese-inspired content for builders as well. Players can incorporate slicing shoji doors, windows, and screens, tatami mats, and a new genkan entryway lined with paper lanterns. Gardens can have a new look with custom rock gardens.

As for gameplay, this EP will introduce “Lifestyles” and “Sentiments.” Lifestyles will gradually appear in response to a Sim’s actions and habits, which will eventually change their behaviors. Sentiments affect the relationships between Sims, which helps to build a stronger bond and have significant changes to their social interactions.

Snowy Escape will be the game’s tenth expansion pack. While the game contains additional Game Packs and Stuff Packs, EPs usually contain much more content from a brand new world, create-a-Sim content, and activities.

While Snowy Escape contains snowy weather, it will not require the Seasons EP. Players can choose to purchase one or the other, but having the Seasons EP will make the snowy experience feel more complete.
