Version 1.1 is now available in Genshin Impact, with the introduction of brand new story content, quests, and new characters to discover. 1.1 is now available to play, but developer MiHoYo isn’t stopping there.
Throughout December new events, a special new character, and other in-game content will keep the game ticking over. If you had any doubts about the longevity of Genshin Impact, 1.1 allays some of those fears.

As part of 1.1, Zhongli is one of the new characters being added. Originally from the Liyue region, this character controls the Geo element and has a rarity of 5 stars. He arrives a little later into the game, needing Adventure Rank 40 and a story key from Chapter 1: Act 3.
Zhongli is a tall man with pale skin and is typically seen wearing a dark brown coat with tassels and silver pads on the shoulders. His name actually means “Timeless”, and this is in relation to his ability to control Geological powers.
The quest to unlock Zhongli, “Historia Antiqua Chapter”, is available today. It likely focuses on Zhongli’s incredible knowledge of the region, and his past as a historian.
As well as the new character, there are a series of different events running throughout December in Genshin Impact. The first is the new Gliding challenge, running from December 4th until December 14th.
Complete the gliding challenge and you’ll be able to get your hands on some unique rewards. There’ll also be a boosted drop-rate for four-star weapons and exclusive five-star weapons from the event- this is called an Epitome Invocation.
Alongside all the new content, everything inside Genshin Impact will continue on as normal, including the Daily login events and quests. These will also receive a little bit of special treatment, as the Seize The Day event will give you an extra chance to receive rewards until December 16th.
Lastly, the new Character Trial event is the developer’s way of giving players a chance to try out new characters before they unlock them. This means you can try both Zhongli and Xinyan, the new characters in 1.1.

MiHoYo has also announced that the While It’s Warm special event will be starting soon, and with so many of 1.1’s events ending just before Christmas, it’s likely to be planned for a Christmas release later in December.
