Epic Games has been on the news with several new releases for its current Season 9 and one of the most exciting is the Week 7 challenges. Already, the company has confirmed Season 10, but then, it comes at a price. You might need a new graphics card if you want to continue playing the PC version of Fortnite Season 10.

“Starting with Season 10, the PC version of Fortnite will require a graphics card capable of running Microsoft DirectX 11” the company stated on the official website. “While a DirectX 11-capable graphics card has always been one of Fortnite’s system requirements, we’ve kept support online for players with older graphics cards – so they could keep playing!”

Well, this should not be a shocker for Fortnite fans as the requirements for Season 10 are the recommended standard for Season 9. So, when Epic Games makes DirectX-11 graphics a mandatory for the next chapter, it’s just a matter of enforcement.

The new Fortnight PC requirements should not scare you. Most of the latest graphics cards, from both NVIDIA and AMD, will support DirectX-11.

If your PC is running on NVIDIA, you should have a graphics card released later than the GeForce GTS 450, a 2010 release. As for gaming machines with AMD GPUs, the least is Radeon HD 5450, which is a 2010 release.

Basically, graphics cards released from 2010 and beyond will support DirectX-11 and thus, Fortnite Season 10.

According to the developer, DirectX 11 will allow them to focus on further development and testing in a bid to improve the general experience of the online game. Remember, this new development affects the PC platform only so Fortnite fans still have the options of playing on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and mobile (Android & iOS).

Epic Games has not confirmed the official release date for Fortnite Season 10 but remember Season 9 ends on 1st August. If your graphics card does not meet the threshold, you have slightly over a month to upgrade your rig.

You definitely want the new Fortnite Season 10 experience that brings on board new maps, and a new storyline. Also remember, you will need Fortnite Season 10 Battle Pass which will set you back around 950 V-Bucks.

In the meantime, Season 9 has a new patch; patch 9.30 which was made available early this week. Among the new features in this latest patch is a healing item called Chug Splash.
