The next-gen consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X, are now officially out for those lucky enough to grab one during this busy holiday season. Some have wondered what the release of new consoles means for the games they enjoy today.

In a recent blog post, EA detailed what to expect for several of its popular titles on next-gen consoles. That includes The Sims 4, which launched in 2014 but continues to release new content multiple times a year, including patches and base game updates.

The Sims 4 recently rolled out a giant base game update that will include over 100 new skin tones, hairstyle adjustments, and color wheels for makeup, along with additional settings for opacity and more.

All this content follows the game’s tenth expansion pack Snowy Escape. For console players, this means having to make some space for all of the Expansion Packs, Game Packs, and Stuff Packs, which only extends the loading time for the game.

EA has good news for console players considering buying a next-gen console. The publisher states that the game will be compatible with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X. Players can enjoy faster loading times and smoother frame rates.

For PC players who have to run the Origin launcher, loading times are even slower. This doesn’t include mods or other custom content, which will only increase loading times. EA is hoping to resolve these issues with the EA Desktop App, which is currently in beta. Anyone interested in trying out the new app can still sign up for the beta.

It’s no surprise that EA is paying careful attention to their Sims players. The company recently released its Q2 FY21 financial results, which saw significant growth this year. Much of that is due to gamers staying at home and spending more time playing video games.

In its prepared remarks for Q2 Fiscal 2021, EA states they expect another “very strong year” for The Sims 4, which will continue onto its seventh year of service. Fans of the series can only expect more content to launch, even though some are anxiously awaiting the fifth installment in the series.
