Washington-based video game developer, Bungie Inc., recently moved the release date of the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep expansion. As announced, players can get the update on October 1, as opposed to the earlier set date, September 17. A statement by the game developer mentioned that they deemed it appropriate to move the launching date because they see it beneficial for piquing the interest of gamers. The free and rebranded version of Destiny 2: New Light will also be simultaneously released with the Shadowkeep expansion. Bungie promises to include a year of one-missions, rewards, and various activities to keep the game busy.

In addition to their news, Bungie also reiterated the Cross-Save game will still be scheduled for release this summer and, “well ahead of Shadowkeep.” This does not come as a surprise as Bungie Inc. is an independent game development company. That means the release of any Destiny 2 sequel is entirely the decision of their dev team.

Bungie was not clear on stating any specific reason causing the delay, but its something everyone can expect in such a situation. Nonetheless, the company apologized for screwing the expansion release and to people who made plans to dive in when the game update goes live. The dev team was also kind enough to inform everyone of various date-related adjustments caused by the rescheduling.

The recent delay causes the Raid of Salvation to reset its schedule on Saturday, October 5. The weekend will be loaded with Raid races and contests. Bungie will also be extending the Moments of Triumph event which runs through the 17th of September. That means three more weeks for players to complete this year’s challenge and unlock all possible in-game rewards and Bungie incentives. An additional in-game event, the Iron Banner will be running simultaneously with the Moment of Triumph competition. Bungie also announces that the Destiny 2: Cross-Save will be going live this summer. This feature allows players to team up with their friends for a better gaming experience.
