A dataminer for MultiVersus has discovered references to possible characters from The Goonies within the game’s data, suggesting that Sloth, Chunk, Mikey, or Data could become combatants in the game at some time in the future.

According to leaked information, MultiVersus will soon add a large cast of characters drawn from a wide variety of titles owned by Warner Bros., including The Wicked Witch and Beetlejuice. Even while their inclusion is all but confirmed thanks to their voice acting, there are additional combatants whose possible presence was previously hinted at via means less conclusive.

multiversus, a trusted insider of MultiVersus, claims that a dataminer on the game’s official Discord posted an image from the game’s files that appear to suggest The Goonies material. All of the game’s character universes are depicted in the photos that were distributed by the dataminer.

These universes are essentially symbolic representations of the several different attributes from which the game’s combatants originate. For instance, the data string for Looney Tunes would feature characters such as Taz and Bugs, whereas the data string for Rick and Morty would feature Rick and Morty.

There is a new subdirectory labeled simply Goonies located at the very bottom of the data file, which gives the impression that players will be able to control characters from within that fictional realm. Notably, there is also a folder called Player First Games characters, in which there is simply Reindog, so this doesn’t necessarily imply that numerous characters from The Goonies might emerge.

The Wicked Witch of the West and Beetlejuice himself are on their way, but for some reason, neither The Wizard of Oz nor Beetlejuice appear to have their own folder. It could be clearer whether or not they’d fall under one folder for Warner Bros. movies. Still, the fact that they aren’t included in any of the character universes is undoubtedly peculiar.
