As World of Warcraft‘s next expansion, Shadowlands, rapidly approaches, Blizzard has been paying close attention to the closed alpha that’s currently available for friends, family, and a select few others.

With builds constantly being updated for the Shadowlands alpha, there’s always some new content being tested for the community. Today, Blizzard sent out their latest patch, adding in new functionalities, a few new Anima Powers, and even allowing the Death Knight class to challenge Torghast, Tower of the Damned.

We recently discussed the new Anima Powers that are being added to the Death Knight class. With abilities to buff Death Coil, summon undead horsemen, and virulently spread disease amongst enemies, the Death Knight is going to be a great class to bring into Torghast.

Two new cell blocks have also been unlocked for players to challenge. Those that take on Torghast will now have the ability to enter Mort’regar and the Upper Reaches, where new challenges await.

Those challenges, however, may have gotten a bit easier. Since the introduction of Torments, players have been reacting with quite a bit of dismay over the new “soft timer” system. Torments work by slowly making Torghast more difficult through an assortment of stacking effects, eventually mounting the challenge to be virtually impossible.

With this latest patch, the Eye of Skoldus and Fracturing Forces torments have had their difficulty reduced. These torments will now wait for a longer period of time after a play leaves combat to call in the ambushers that they summon.

“Over the last week, we’ve read and heard a lot of feedback on this part of Torghast, most of which has been focused on the concept of timers,” Blizzard writes in their patch notes. “We’re working on more changes to torments and all of Torghast; please stay tuned!”

Additionally, there have been a few general gameplay changes. Blizzard outlines the following in their notes:

  • Death Pools will now grow more slowly out of the corpses of the Deadsoul
  • Skeletal Cauldrons can now be destroyed
  • Skeletal Remains now move 50% slower
  • Brokers on short floors will no longer be in trap distance
  • Multiple traps and enemies have been removed from the beginning of floors to prevent them from reaching players in the safe area

With all of these changes, Torghast and the Shadowlands alpha, in general, have seen a considerable amount of improvement. As the months move towards the introduction of the latest expansion, everyone is eager to see what changes Blizzard will make next.
