Days Gone die-hards, you better hang on because the devs just dropped an emotional letter, and everyone is reeling. Bend Studio-the studio responsible for this post-apocalyptic love affair with motorcycles-tweeted to say thank-you for showering it with vast amounts of overwhelming love from the day it released Days Gone Remastered. And lemme tell ya: it is really.
Well, what gives? The remastered version of Days Gone has been ablaze with all things social-media streaming, clips, reviews, and screengrabs that would enough to make any biker slayer prideful. The devs straightforwardly said it’s filled their hearts with joy-which is a bit wholesome for a game about surviving a freakin’ zombie apocalypse.
At first, however, Days Gone was not the possible darling of the game world. It earned, for lack of better terms, half and half reviews upon landing in 2019-the some love the open-world havoc, the others abandon it completely due to mechanics clunky and horrendous pacing. Go a little farther, and now the remastered copy is really bringing all kinds of applause: perhaps it’s the greased game play and the much smoother frame rate, or maybe it’s about time they finally gave it a chance.
In fact, Broken Road. Days Gone has to be much more than just sighting a Freaker-it really is all going to be about your trip. St. John’s story, after all, is a little complicated, morbid, and surprisingly deep for a guy who spends most of his time gumming the throttle on a motorcycle through hordes of zombies. The remaster lets you relive that trip into new technology designed for the next generation.
But not all of this is some hop on to a nostalgia wave. The recent surge of interest in Days Gone has got many fans speculating on whether it could mean a sequel. Rumor has it that Bend Studio was developing Days Gone 2 before Sony apparently shelved it, but as those numbers stack up for the remaster, who knows? Sony might see things differently. Strange things have happened in gaming.
However, the immediate objective is to make a celebration of what currently exists. It turned out that the social media interface got flooded with great moments-being able to take down a horde with nothing but a molotov and prayer, or just even vibing with Deacon’s gravelly one-liners. Holding it all in, Bend Studio thank the fans for standing by them in the roughest times.
So maybe this is the time for you to play Days Gone Remastered again if you haven’t yet. The Broken Road awaits, and who knows-you might just fall head over heels in love again. Or the first time. Either way, those devs seem to be stoked to see you there.
And hey, maybe if we all ride enough, we might get that sequel after all. Fingers crossed, right?
