Psycho Bandit and Claptrap, the crazy duo, are coming back after a long wait of five years. This time they come to Fortnite. Yes, you heard it right. The Borderlands crossover is officially live now; it’s going to bring on all the kind of mayhem you expect from a franchise built on explosives, loot, and sheer insanity.
What’s really going down, huh? Psycho Bandit is the crazed, mask-wearing, villainous persona from Borderlands, and Psycho Bandit comes back with everyone’s most loved sarcastic robot, Claptrap. All these characteristics combined into a single game, Fortnite, and it’s about damn time, really. The last time Epic saw Psycho Bandit inside Fortnite was in 2019. Fans have been calling for him to come back ever since.
But it’s not only skins. Epic Games released an entire Borderlands-themed bundle, back bling, pickaxes, and of course wild emotes that are guaranteed to have your character move like it had just raided a vault. And let’s not kid ourselves-if you aren’t running around the island as Psycho Bandit, are you even playing Fortnite right now?
It’s probably not the first time Borderlands and Fortnite have been at it together, but it could be the biggest hype of all. This time, the crossover amps up from the last level where the first battle went well into history. After all, what’s more ridiculous than getting a Victory Royale while that little trash-talking robot cheers (or insults) you in the background? Perfection.
File this all under the heading of ‘Fans going berserk’. The social media’s lit, thanks to Psycho Bandit stamping out such great pieces of geeking delight, while memes about Claptrap’s worthlessness crop everywhere. A few even try to recreate scenes from Borderlands within Creative mode in Fortnite. The crossover has effectively made an entire tribute game to Borderlands fans, and we are on it.
But real, what actually took five years to pull up? There’s no crazier energy that matches over-the-top pseudo-indie than Borderlands. The eye-popping cel-shaded view, the totally absurd weaponry, and the pulsing action: it’s as if two franchises were designed to collide. Perhaps Epic and Gearbox were waiting for the best moments. Or perhaps they knew we’d lose our minds at the mere thought of Psycho Bandit’s reappearance-it’s all there on the lines.
So if you’re really excited to get your hands on these skins, make sure you rush to the Fortnite Item Shop before it runs out. Collabs would never become active 24/7, and then nobody would like to lose a chance to play as a screaming lunatic brandishing a buzzaxe. Who knows when Claptrap would disappear again? That little dude knows how to vanishing act right at the worst times possible.
So, drop down in there, load all that stuff up, and get a taste of that sweet, sweet madness. Because as we know, nothing goes according to plan when you have Psycho Bandit and Claptrap around, and that’s just how it should be.
