Both the mobile and console versions of Terraria are still far behind version 1.4. To put it into perspective, the Console version received the 1.3.5 update in April, just a month before 1.4 released on PC.

Porting the PC update to console and mobile versions is a difficult process. The console version of Terraria is developed by Pipeworks – they port the PC code into Unity so the game can run on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

It’s likely that the console version will release in at least a year’s time, probably longer. 1.3.5 was released for PC way back in 2017 – that’s three years before it arrived on the consoles. As it stands, 1.4 is one of the largest updates Terraria has ever received – it will take a lot of work to port over from PC to console.

However, the console version of Terraria does receive small updates and hotfixes pretty regularly. Individual elements of 1.4 may arrive bit by bit, the way that Wiring updates and the Desert updates from 1.3.5 were added independently in April and May of this year.

For the time being, it’s best to sit tight and wait. No details will be released about the upcoming release date for Terraria 1.4 on consoles for a while – it could be a couple of years, probably on next-gen consoles, before the console version receives the Journey’s End update.

What about mobile? Well, the mobile version is developed by DR Studios and is also quite far behind in terms of updates. The mobile version is still in 1.3.0.7.9 with the latest hotfix update in late April of this year.

However, due to development complications in the past, Terraria on mobile didn’t receive the updates it needed. The Terraria official Twitter has stated that the mobile 1.4 update should be ready by the end of 2020 – pretty impressive turnaround for such a huge content drop.
