Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Gust have been preparing for the video game adaptation of Fairy Tail. The game has been promoted for several months and was scheduled to launch in Spring.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, development schedules have hit major delays. Fairy Tail is one of the latest games to be affected.

On the Koei Tecmo and Gust social media accounts, the team announced that Fairy Tail’s release was now set back until Summer. The delay is due to COVID-19. The developers are working hard to release the game to meet customer expectations.

Fairy Tail was initially scheduled to launch on June 25 but will now launch on July 31, over one month after the first delay.

Fairy Tail is based on the fantasy-adventure manga by Hiro Mashima. The series ran for over ten years, ending in 2017 for 63 volumes. The manga was later adapted into an anime series, which made it more accessible for audiences across the world. The manga went on to sell over 60 million copies worldwide.

The series tells the story of Natsu, a Dragon Slayer in the Fairy Tail magician guild, and his group of friends. They face off against a variety of unique enemies.

In the upcoming game, players can experience fan-favorite episodes first-hand. Players will also get to play as various characters in the series, from summoners, shapeshifters, enchanters, and more. Attacks include fire and ice magic, summoning spirits and weapons, controlling time, and much more. Characters from the manga will show off their skills in 3D CG.

The game has more to offer than the main story. Players can expand the guild by completing requests, strengthening friendships, and upgrading the guild. The higher the rank of the guild, the more powerful and challenging quests will appear.

Pre-orders are available now. The early purchase bonus is a special costume for Ezra. The digital deluxe bonus includes the Great Magic Games team costumes, Bonus Lacrima set, and the DDX limited Ryza costume for Lucy.

Players can follow the development and release of Fairy Tail by following Koei Tecmo and Gust on social media.

The first video game adaptation, Fairy Tail: Portable Guild, launched on the PSP in June 2010 along with a sequel in the next year. Two fighting games were later released on the Nintendo DS. A new console game hasn’t been developed for the series for years until now.

Fairy Tail’s new expected launch date is July 31 for PC, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch.
