Thunderbox Entertainment has announced it's adapting the board game The Captain is Dead into a mobile game on iOS and Android. The board game by Alderac Entertainment Group was so popular that it released two additional episodes called Lockdown and Dangerous Planet. \n \nThe mobile game is now seeking beta testers to try out the game before its released. \n \n \n \n"The Captain is Dead is based on the frantic and fun board game that puts you in the role of crew members on a besieged starship. You must co-ordinate the crew to repair critical systems and fend off hostile aliens, or you will share the captain’s fate. From the chief engineer, weapons officer, and visiting admiral, all the way down to the ensign and the ship’s janitor, you must combine your unique talents to avoid utter annihilation in the cold depths of space!" states the official summary. \n \nThe game contains multiple characters, including Teleporter Chief, Cyborg, Crewman, Counselor, Ensign, and Soldier. Each character has a unique skill that will help the entire team survive. More characters are on the way. \n \nPlayers will have to defend the ship against aliens, but there are several ways to fight off the threat. They include using the Bridge to scan for threats, repair defense shields, and communicate with the crew around the ship. In the War Room, players can read the deceased Captain's notes on how to survive in an emergency. There are several rooms dedicated to defending or fighting back against invaders, plus an Infirmary that's vital to ensuring the rest of the crew stays alive. \n \nPlayers that want to try out the game first can sign up to be a beta tester on the Thunderbox Entertainment website. Beta testing is important for finding any remaining bugs or other significant issues before the game launches. Players should only sign up if they can devote a few hours into not only playing the game but also communicating with the developer with what they like so far, don't like, or any issues encountered during gameplay. \n \nPlayers can choose their platform of choice, including PC or mobile. If a player is accepted, they will receive more information via email on how to start playing the beta. \n \nThe Captain is Dead launches on PC, iOS, and Android later this year.
