The long-awaited sequel Blood Bowl 3 now has a release window. The developer Cyanide Studio had planned for the game to be released in early 2021, but after seeing some early previews, they decided to go back to the drawing board. Our very own Stacey Henley stated that, with the exception of the gameplay itself, everything about Blood Bowl 3 provides a fun, laid-back experience.

However, that was in the year 2021. Since then, Blood Bowl 3 has completed a second beta test, soliciting and receiving a great deal of feedback from its players. Ben Sledge stated in May of this year that early samples of Blood Bowl 3 had been greatly improved, citing clearer menus, a less confusing user interface, the ability to turn off distracting iconography, and the inclusion of a formation editor that would allow managers to build preset plays for their teams.

Despite this, the most notable change from the most recent update to Blood Bowl 3 was the significant enhancements to the game’s personalization choices. The player’s preferences can be applied to every aspect of the game, from the other players to the ball. Unfortunately, a female character cannot be created, which is a shame, but perhaps there will be some free post-launch update that includes her.

The uplifting news is that a new update has been released after more than a year of hard effort and attending to player complaints. Blood Bowl 3 is now prepared to compete at the highest levels. On February 23, 2023, it will be available for the first time on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and personal computers through Steam and the Epic Games Store. A port of the game to Nintendo Switch is still in the works, but its release has been pushed back to an undetermined point in the not-too-distant future.
