Microsoft’s next-gen console, the Xbox Series X, is set to be released on November 10, with NBA 2K21 being one of the platform’s launch titles, and it’ll require quite a bit of free space to install, as the application will eat up around 120GB. On current-gen platforms — PlayStation 4 and Xbox One — 2K’s annual NBA game is just over 80GB.

The file size for the next-gen title was revealed on Reddit after a user posted a screenshot of the game’s requirements. It’s worth noting that a day-one patch from 2K could reduce the game’s file size at launch, but as of right now, you’ll need over 120GB of free space to install the game on the Xbox Series X, and it’s likely that 2K21 will have the same requirements for the PlayStation 5.

Last week, 2K gave us our first look at “The City,” which is a much larger version of “The Neighborhood.” Of course, the new City setting will only be available for players on next-gen consoles, as players on current-gen platforms will still be in the Neighborhood.

Over on their official blog, 2K described the next-gen City setting, saying that it’s their most ambitious execution of a virtual basketball community ever.

“Imagine a map that is many, many times larger than previous Neighborhoods,” said Visual Concepts‘ executive producer  Erick Boenisch. “A design that resembles a modern metropolis, complete with towering skyscrapers, sprawling plazas, and a city center. Oh, and it houses four distinct boroughs that are controlled by four rival Affiliations. And with that, I’m incredibly proud to announce that Affiliations are BACK! I’ll go into more details on Affiliations a little further below. For now, let’s keep painting the picture of what The City truly is.

“The City is our most ambitious execution of a virtual basketball community…ever. The sheer amount and variety of buildings and basketball courts that we were able to create and fit into the map still amazes me to this day!”

As of this writing, nobody has reviewed NBA 2K21 on next-gen consoles, so we don’t really know how much of an upgrade it’ll be. Of course, some are assuming that it’ll be just a visual upgrade, as some of the game’s next-gen trailers haven’t shown any significant gameplay improvements.

Given that NBA 2K21 will be released alongside Sony and Microsoft’s next-gen consoles, it’ll be released on the Xbox Series X first on November 10, and then it’ll be available for the PlayStation 5 on November 12.
