One of the more anticipated games of 2020 is Ubisoft Toronto’s Watch Dogs: Legion. It’s the third installment in this popular hacking series that has gone on to achieve a cult-like following over the years.

The game has had a ton of hype, which isn’t surprising considering the lofty plans the developer has for this latest installment. From massive open-ended environments with crisp details to limitless NPC playable options, Watch Dogs: Legion looks like it’s going to revolutionize the series in a major way.

Ubisoft Toronto has done a great job at marketing this game despite its release date getting pushed back. It’s in the news cycle once again thanks to Ubisoft Forward. This was Ubisoft’s first all-digital conference that highlighted major games and announcements.

Watch Dogs: Legion was one of the titles heavily featured and for good reason. Coming out of this event, there is now new gameplay footage that gives us a better idea of how it will play.

The trailer starts off by setting the stage for events that have transpired. London has been attacked by some mysterious terrorist, which forces the government’s hand at seeking help from a private military company referred to as Albion.

The company is run by Nigel Cass. In just the few sequences that he’s in, he looks like a maniacal villain hellbent on controlling all aspects of London. Another major player shown is Mary Kelley — who’s in charge of one of the most powerful crime syndicates in the city.

Getting into the gameplay, it features a mission about gaining more information on Mr. Cass. We see some of the characters the user has already recruited, all of which have unique abilities. That’s a huge aspect of Watch Dogs: Legion out of the gate. Players have the ability to recruit whoever they like off the street, including senior citizens.

The first NPC shown is a construction worker, who has a unique set of power tools that give him the upper hand during melee encounters. After some brutal kills, the mission starts over and this time the user selects Amy. She’s a drone expert that can take a more hands-off approach to dealing with threats.

Seeing the different ways you can approach combat and missions depending on the character you select shows this game’s diversity. Even when playing the same mission over, there are endless ways everything can shape out. Thus, Watch Dogs: Legion has exceptional re-playability, which is promising to see.
