Trials of Osiris, coming back and quite something to lose one’s mind over. They dropped the announcement on Twitter saying that the Adept weapon to acquire is Keen Thistle, but the latter’s gamers seem preoccupied with the map selection, “…some pretty bad vibes.”
Well, Vostok is… a choice. A controversial one. Like, who sat in a room analysing map rotations and concluded, “Yeah, let’s run Vostok right after Twilight Gap and Widow’s Court”? That is exactly what happened, and the replies to Bungie’s tweet have been such mayhem! Gamers are calling it the “worst triple header ever” and saying that maybe Bungie is deliberately trying to destroy the Trials player base. One @1Arkhram spurred some much-needed clarity: “Widows Court – Twilight Gap and then Vostok is generational run.” Generational, as in… historically bad.
And it’s not even just one map; cheating is as rampant as ever. People like @irvvvvvvvvvvvv claim to have encountered 21 matches with cheaters consecutively. “Y’all still can’t ban cheaters,” he tweeted, then again, “Good job on stopping cheaters tho 😭😭,” accompanied by tears-of-joy emojis. Oof.
Then there are Mothras. Yes, the plank. Gigantic Hive Moth-sized ones have apparently been terrorizing players, and @Tuki_Bird held nothing back: “And so are the Mothra sized hive moths,” plus a screenshot of that absolute unit of a bug. It is… a lot.
Some of the player base is not bothering with Trials this week at all. @bennijin tweeted, “Another weekend not playing Trials,” followed by a GIF of someone walking away in peace. Others, like @uzio_o, say that Bungie doesn’t really care about the mode: “U guys actually just don’t fucking care about this game mode it’s ridiculous.”
But hey, not everyone is mad. @Arocsx has shared that streamer @MrVxnish is planning to drop 200 games this weekend and host a 24-hour help stream. Now that’s commitment—maybe madness. Whatever it is, it’s something.
So, with all this going on, what’s next? It’s almost been under fire for months from questionable map rotations to cheating in full force and now giant moths. Players are pretty much begging for changes, and for now, it looks like Vostok stays—with all the salt.
So if you are going to be entering Trials this weekend: good luck. You’re going to need it. And maybe some bug spray.
