CD Projekt Red recently announced a major update to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition on the Nintendo Switch. While the patch contains many helpful graphical and gameplay updates, it contains something else for those who played the game on PC.

Update 3.6 of the game adds save file integration with Steam and GoG. Now players who played on PC can now continue their adventures on the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the final game in the series by CDPR. The series wraps up Geralt’s adventures while also finally introducing his longtime on-and-off girlfriend Yennefer of Vengerberg along with Ciri, who also has a few moments of gameplay in the game.

The Complete Edition contains all of the DLC and Expansion Packs previously released with the original game.

The news page for the update states, “Among the features introduced by Update 3.6 is save file integration with Steam and GOG, allowing gamers to continue their PC adventure on the go, as well as HUD, menu and Gwent touch control support.”

For those who have played TW3 before, they understand how long the game is. They might have avoided buying the game for the Nintendo Switch because they didn’t want to play through hundreds of hours of gameplay again.

Now, players can use their old saves from previous games on PC, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Mods won’t transfer over, but any mod-related bugs or bugs from modded save files may cause issues on the Switch version of the game.

If the save file is changed after it’s imported into the Nintendo Switch, the Cloud Save feature won’t be able to recognize it.

Additional updates include more text languages, touch control support, graphical options, performance optimizations, bug fixes, and various gameplay and crash fixes.

This is one of the first major free updates for the Nintendo Switch version of the game. CDPR has also announced they plan to add additional voice-over languages in selected regions at a later date.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One now. The Complete Edition is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
