The Division 2 Summer Event has dropped, and everybody running to get a taste of it! It is to run till July 8, crammed with new content-highlighting the 7-step Project Chain, a new adversary in the form of The Hoarder to stand against, some brand-new skill VFX, and presumably a mouth-watering final reward: the Slingshot UMP-45! However, some fingers are pointing in the devs’ direction, feeling that inconsistencies and very short-run events are against them.
For starters, opening for the event are well-packed activities. The seven-part Project Chain remains the headline event with daily missions that yield skill VFX and prizes culminating in the Slingshot UMP-45. The Hoarder is a new enemy type that kills with the drop of maximum of 4 items, adding some frenzy looting aroma into the mix. A short while the event lasts, some players have expressed concern, one of whom is @GilSnake, who commented, “July 8? Super short no π?β
The UMP-45 Slingshot gets a decent boost to optimal range and an empty talent slot, granting players the freedom to recalibrate it with just about any weapon talent they please. @Moshe_Benaim asked if the weapon itself had a talent, to which the official Division account replied that it has a random one that can be swapped. @WhiteTusk01 replied with “Oh, sweet. That sounds like fun. π.” @RandallPre10215, on the other hand, declared the weapon as “another useless weapon for the stash.”
Then drama ensued. @minachellow pointed out that the backup feature on Aussie servers has been broken since the DLC dropped, sarcastically saying, “Instead of fixing that you add VFX π€£.” Others like @DevynMykel mocked the price of the cosmetics, “$36.00 for TWO VFX????? LOLOLOLOLOL sttu.” Then came @CodeMustard demanding, “GIVE THE ULTIMATE EDITION PLAYERS THE CREDITS YOU OWE THEM.”
There are some nostalgia-factory moments with @xsofianof pleading, “Please bring back the trench coat from last year!” Meanwhile, @Fabioles2 is enjoying the Brooklyn DLC but throwing shade at the simplicity of the event’s rewards: “This cap is a very simple reward π. I believe this can improve.”
Then comes the confusion. @jainashish0317 asked, “What is 7 part project chain? Am I missing something?” while @voidicaa was questioning whether the event required DLC. @HanaganTweets proceeded to describe, saying The Hoarder is a random enemy that drops loot, but the chat swiftly digressed into debates over time-locked content and paywalls.
Mixed feelings notwithstanding, the event still manages to pull the crowd. @twstedslap assured @slimjd that “It’s worth it!”, while @jainashish0317 said, “I am back to D2 after years.” In a similar vein, @BobaFnFett1 jokes, “Why does this always happen when I’m on vacation?”
If anyone wants the loot, wants to see how the drama unfolds, or is simply curious about what The Hoarder drops, then The Division 2 Summer Event is currently live; however, it’s only here until July 8th for people to grab anything. Agents, it’s time to hustle.
