Okay, to get all hopeless at the same place. And if you, by chance, are one of those contending with GPU crashes, an antidote has just got released. Working hand-in-hand with NVIDIA, developers confirmed, after rigorous testing, that the latest GeForce Game Ready Driver 576.80 release will help keep this machine less besieged and crashing. So if your rig has been crazy all around, this may very well be the moment to breathe.

Slow down, though! Let us talk about it for a while, shall we? That tweet from Marvel Rivals had a very substantial background—they worked hand in hand with NVIDIA. This means that both parties have the manpower to ensure this driver really does what it says. And that’s kind of big. How many times have you ever seen game devs working together with hardware corporations? Not that often, that is for sure.

That, of course, is if it comes down to some not all having problems. Some, like Mapache Astral, say they’ve never crashed, whether it was with a GTX 1650 or an RTX 3070. Lucky them, right? For the rest of us either having random freezes or just straight-up crashes, this update might just be the one that saves the day.

But, as always, there’s yet another but. JT Fillpot shared a horror story about months and a $200 splurge before randomly stumbling across a fix. They’re in no rush to jump on this potential solution. And rightfully so: we all know that if you’ve been burned before, it’s hard to trust a quick fix, even if it comes alllll the way from the devs’ mouths themselves.

And then there are AMD fans. The way those AMD users are complaining! Many responses decry the lack of support to Radeon GPUs, with gamers like João Paiva and Dapper explaining how their games continue to randomly crash, most often at match start or when swapping sides. One player even publicly challenged AMD to step up just like NVIDIA did. WOW!

Likely outside of crash issues, performance was probably another area being discussed. AbbyAZK and ChimpMonk made mention of frame drops and overall instability, which, let’s be honest, could just as well be infuriating as an outright crash. Javier602945833 chimed in to say that console players on PS5 aren’t safe from frame drops either. So while this driver update will do him hints, there’s definitely plenty more to be done.

But then, the other drama-land, crossplay. Giuseppe0300, alongside several others, went off about ranked crossplay with some PC players being vehemently opposed to mixing with consoles. Venom even joked about putting all controller users on melee characters because “half the roster doesn’t even require aim.” It’s pretty rough, but the argument is way from settled.

We need to stop for a moment to insert an absolutely random Venom rework request from nemtert. Like, sure, chuck that into the gargantuan pile of issues.

So, what is the verdict? If you use NVIDIA and are crashing, it’s worth trying this. For the AMD users… well, maybe look at what pops up in the news. And if you want the drama, strap in because Marvel Rivals ain’t slowing down anytime soon.

Update those drivers now (or not; we won’t tell you what to do).
