Ever since Mortal Kombat came onto the scene, Kitana has been an integral character. She’s the princess of Outworld, ruled by Shao Kahn. We’ve seen her depicted as both good and evil, although the former is more often her role thankfully.

She played a critical role in the Mortal Kombat movies, helping Liu Kang defeat both Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn. Her role in the games has also been instrumental. It seems only fitting that she would make an appearance in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11, which is receiving so much hype as of late. For good reason, too. NetherRealm Studios really has mastered the art of storytelling with these games.

To the fans’ delight, NetherRealm Studios has officially confirmed her in this 11th installment, and MK fans couldn’t be happier. Her character confirmation came at the first-ever State of Play for PlayStation. It was a monumental press conference for the company, where Mortal Kombat 11 game footage was heavily featured.

The only real downside of this confirmation is we don’t see any gameplay footage. It appears NetherRealm Studios is saving it for a later date, probably weeks before MK11’s official release. This makes sense considering how important Kitana is for the franchise.

From what we do see, though, Kitana is sporting the iconic blue costume. She’s holding her deadly fan blades per usual, which are some of the best weapons in the entire MK universe. She looks as beautiful as ever as well.

One can only assume she will have an integral role in this 11th installment of the series. From previous videos, we know that Shao Kahn is recruited by the game’s main antagonist, Kronika. Kitana probably will have a role in foiling her stepdad’s plans of evil reign once again.

It’s great to see Kitana back in action. She was an absolute joy to play with in MK9. She’s always been one of the more agile characters, and her fan blades are seemingly unstoppable from across the stage. You better believe she’ll be a fan-favorite out of all of the female characters in this game.

Hopefully, we see some more footage of her actual combat moves and fatalities. Mortal Kombat 11 is almost upon us, and quite honestly, it has some of the best characters to date. The closed beta for the game is expected to hit the market between March 28 and March 31. It would be nice to see Kitana heavily featured in these early matches.
