Strictly Limited Games has announced a special Collector’s Edition for Ys Origin. The game is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch sometime this year. A Collector’s Edition was also announced through Limited Run Games earlier this year but has since sold out.

The new edition through Strictly Limited Games is another opportunity for Ys fans to obtain a piece of the collection, but only 3,000 copies will be sold worldwide. The company’s edition will differ from the Limited Run version with different artwork and items, but the base game remains the same.

Strictly Limited Games has two versions for each platform. Players can either choose from the physical edition with the game in a case. The Collector’s Editions are the same and include the game, Origin 2 CD soundtrack on an audio CD, acrylic stand diorama, Ys enamel pin set, sticker sheet, and a bonus acrylic card in a Collector’s Edition box by Clear River Games. Each edition is individually numbered.

This new collection differs slightly from the Limited Run Games edition. It included the game in a SteelBook case, Collector’s Edition perfect-bound art book, 18″ x 24″ reversible poster, and soundtrack in a Collector’s Edition box. The artwork for the physical materials is also different.

Ys Origin first launched in December 2006 on PC. In 2012, XSEED Games published the English localized version on PC. The console release on PlayStation 4 and Vita came later in 2017, with the Xbox One release in 2018. The Nintendo Switch release was announced earlier this year and will soon launch this Fall.

Ys Origin is an RPG that takes place 700 years before the events of the first two games. The world of Ys was on the brink of destruction because of evil Demon forces. Twin goddesses Reah and Feena, who ruled the land, decided to move their subjects into the safety of the clouds. The demons were determined to destroy them all and began building a massive tower. The Goddesses disappeared, and the citizens believed they were inside of the Devil’s Tower.

A search party, including apprentice knight Yunica Tovah and sorcerer Hugo Fact, decided to return to the surface search for the Goddesses inside of the tower.

Ys Origin has multiple difficulty settings, unlockable “Time Attack” and “Boss Rush” modes, and an arena. The game itself has plenty to offer, from an RPG storyline, action, and exploration.

The Ys Origin Collector’s Edition from Strictly Limited Games is expected to ship this Fall.
