And with that, Epic Games have done it again! They have made an announcement that will shake the foundations of all those who step inside Fortnite. The entirety of this season of Star Wars-we mean the entirety-will presumably see the usage of blasters-no standard weapons. Study that-None. Zilch. What lay before with the real deal pew-particularity may be even worse to face till Season 4-maybe an extreme best or a full-blown crash.
What are we talking about? Not this time-just Star Wars blasters or nothing. Previously was gun and weapons galore’ with general mayhem ensuing from new weapons and unvaulted classics; this time? No shotguns, no ARs, no snipers-just the DL-44, E-11, and whatever other sci-fi firepower Epic wants to throw in. And if you’re thinking, “Wait, what about my favorite loadout?” Tough luck, buddy. Strong with the Force and blasters only.
Some people are just very exhilarated. A whole season with Star Wars weapons? That is practically going to be all dreams for everyone who ever wanted to live in their Mandalorian fantasizing. But other persons? Oh, they are really salty. Like, “Why can’t I just have my pump shotgun?” salty. And really, both sides do make sense. One, new, gripping, and most probably heavily thematized. The other? Huge disruption which will shake the whole meta.
Now let’s address that “weapons from Earth are not allowed until Season 4” thing. That was a choice. No way is one week or two; that is whole hog for the bit, baby. If you’re anti-blasters, it’ll probably be a nasty several months for you. Or you might give in to the chaos and go full Boba Fett with everybody else.
This is definitely not the first time Fortnite has gone all out on a theme. Do you remember that time everything on the map was related to a war between a giant mech and monsters? Or the time when they literally blew up the game with a black hole? Epic never looked back on largeness, so this is as large as any of those prior. But to shut normal weapons out for a whole season is next-level.
New Star Wars skins have leaked in the last few days, gathering just all the new features to probably have some lightsabers (and hopefully) and who knows foretell what else. Yet, one thing is for sure-the extreme wildness of this season. Whether good wild or “why did I just get lasered from across the map”? That can only be confirmed later.
Either way, they are doing it all-the-hell-or-halfway. It’ll be a major roller coaster ride, anyway. So grab your blaster, hop in a Tie Fighter (please let there be Tie Fighters), and may the odds be ever in your favor. Or something.
And if you are still bitter about that missing shotgun? Just remember: that goes till the fourth season. Probably. Maybe. Unless Epic has a change of heart. Which they totally could. Because it’s Fortnite. And nothing ever stays the same for long.
