A tweet that was cryptic this week on the official Brazil Twitter account of Fortnite sent the community into shock-it was “porque relembrar se você pode reviver…” (translation: “why remember when you can relive…” followed by a meteor emoji and an enigmatic image). Speculations, nostalgia trips, and fans clamoring once again for skins such as Travis Scott exploded all at once.

This image is a throwback to Fortnite’s meteor of Chapter 1, that smashed and smashed into Dusty Depot and changed the map forever. Epic Games is now being believed by fans to be teasing a throwback event, an all-out recreation of that iconic moment. And the replies? Oh man, what a vibe.

For example, @MattTheBast went: “who’s inside the meteor epic? WHO?” That opened up a chaotic thread where fans were throwing out wild guesses-Eminem (yes, seriously), a new Seven member, or even a variant of The Scientist skin. User @kalocaaaa hyped it with all-capital energy, “THE EMINEM! 🔥🔥🔥 DON’T MISS HIS NEW LIVE SHOW WITH 4 OTHER SINGERS!” And @lipeerax cryptically answered, “the , member of the ,” cause nothing hyped up like redacted spoilers.

But most importantly, it would create a hype for Travis Scott. He was the most requested rapper to be put back into the game. “Bring back the Scott skin and concert event,” one fan tweeted at Epic. Someone even included a screenshot of the iconic Astronomical show. A user tweeted, “If the good times are back, bring back Travis Scott 🙏.” It’s high time.

On the contrary, some cut off all the nostalgia; sad reality wrecked by @Frizo99_: “Unfortunately, it’s not the same… I will never experience those moments again-come home from school, play Chapter 1 with friends, and stay up super late for updates.” Oof. Right in the childhood.

Others like @AGrande94137 went the normal route, declaring, “The grass isn’t the same as back then lol,” alluding to the improvement in graphics, within the game, from then to now. Then there’s @NdLeozin, who went straight to the point and stated that Fortnite’s team doesn’t give a damn about certain modes, which…okay, harsh but maybe fair?

Biggest curiousity question is now: Are they indeed going to do a meteor event redux or is this genuine, harsh: You’re a tease? This train headed out of the station and there are leaks that hint at some form of live interaction and even map changes coming. And if Eminem is really in the mix? The internet may very well explode.

One thing’s for sure-Fortnite knows how to play with our feelings. Be it nostalgia bait or something way bigger, the community is ready to lose their minds. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be on Twitter for the next 48 hours begging for more information.
