The Tomb Raider franchise offers intricate puzzles across all of its games-but which escape is the most worthy of its prestige? Recently, the official Tomb Raider Twitter account triggered the debate and invited fans to join in and settle the issue once and for all. Replies to the poll were equally celebratory yet divided.
The Last Revelation (Tomb Raider IV), clearly, is what the fans have voted for, with many comments praising the composition of its intricate puzzles. “The most unique of all, love its puzzles,” wrote @JesuisJanice.
A shot at the Survivor trilogy came from @BasharBahlawan, who stated that The Last Revelation is free of “boring physics puzzles” present in the modern-day entries. Thus, the love for this 1999 classic reached such a vibe that @KhaoticNoob hilariously called it a “masterpiece” together with the iconic chef’s kiss emoji.
This group of fans is not restricted to nostalgia alone. Those in favor of the one in the Survivor trilogy will talk for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the newest contender for the title-but praise is specifically reserved for the puzzles from its DLC!
@DudeKyleRaider called for the tomb aesthetics with difficulty, and @Matthiew_BC agreed, likewise characterizing Shadow’s DLC puzzles as “very cool.” Even @gaymerhagstan, who gave a shout-out to the classics, admitted that Shadow offered the most fun in puzzles for the series, asserting the older ones were just about “find that key” and not really brain-teasers.
Then we had some wild cards. “@NadaQasem9 cast upon Tomb Raider Anniversary because it remade the puzzles from the original game,” while @s_ethaustin broke the list down like a tier list: “The best? TR2. The hardest? Last Revelation. The easiest? Legend lol.” @canary_khan took aim at Survivor Lara, claiming her puzzles were really easy in comparison to the classic ones.
Naturally, no gaming debate is completed without a sprinkling of random chaos. This time it was @dreamdoll29, who, amidst the chaos, saw an opportunity to call for “patch 5 for Tomb Raider 1-3 remastered,” @faris199819 with his humor hitting this as a retro of Legend trilogy remaster. And then @FeliasTieg71421, just replying in Portuguese that “All of them, I love ❤️”, like why bother deciding?
Yet the argument was seriously heated when @oceanblvd_ ill-concealed what he has presumed to be a stealthy Crystal Dynamics game-on that poll (for Legend), resulting in some back and forth about which developer did which entries. Meanwhile, @KerryYourWeight put all discussions at rest, declaring the original and The Last Revelation to be “the only right answers” because some arguments just can never be won.
So, what’s the conclusion? So, Tomb Raider fans will defend their own favorites-whether it is the old brain-bending ones like The Last Revelation or the more recent one with polished tomb crawling style-Shadows.
One thing is for sure, however, no matter which game you choose, the legacy of Lara Croft taking puzzles from here to eternity still stands strong today. It would really be cool for someone to drop that patch for the remastered trilogy already…
