A few weeks ago it was announced that the creative team behind Super Smash Bros. Ultimate wanted Sora from the long running Disney\/Square Enix series Kingdom Hearts to join the battle as a new DLC character. \n \nHowever, Disney put the proverbial kibosh on that, stopping talks with Nintendo before they ever really had a chance to begin. Because of that, it is unlikely that fans of Kingdom Hearts will ever see their title hero face off with the likes of Mario, Kirby, Link, and the rest of the Smash Bros. roster. \n \nhttps:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WShCN-AYHqA&t=7s \n \nHowever, that hasn't stopped a number of fans in Japan from voicing their opinions. \n \nA recent poll held by Japan's Inside-Games asked its readers which character they most wanted to see included in future DLC packs for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. \n \nThe answer was overwhelming. It was Sora by a wide margin. \n \nSora was far and away the number one pick, with Dante from Devil May Cry coming in second place. Rounding out the list at the very bottom were Geno from Super Mario RPG and Goku from the Dragon Ball franchise. \n \nOf course, there were more choices offered than just these four. \n \nHere are the results: \n \n \tSora from Kingdom Hearts \n \tDante from Devil May Cry \n \tHunter from Monster Hunter \n \tRed from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 \n \t2B from Nior Automata \n \tCrash Bandicoot from Crash Bandicoot \n \tWaddle Dee\/Bandana Waddle Dee from Kirby \n \tSephiroth from Final Fantasy VII \n \tArle from Puyo Puyo \n \tSteve from Minecraft \n \tSaver from Fate \n \tKirito from Sword Art Online \n \tHakurei Reimu from Touhou Project \n \tGoku from Dragon Ball \n \tGeno from Super Mario RPG \n \nSora received 290 votes, with Dante receiving 91. Not only was Sora the only choice to receive votes in the triple digits, but he beat out his closest rival by 199 votes. \n \nIf rumors are to be believed Square Enix was all for allowing Sora to enter the fray as a part of the Smash Bros. Ultimate roster, but Disney remained the sole hangup. \n \nThis makes sense as a number of Square Enix characters have made their way onto the Smash Bros. stage, most notably Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII. It also included the Hero from Dragon Quest, another Square property, in the first Fighters Pass. \n \nMany have surmised that, initially, Sora was meant for the spot that Hero ultimately claimed. \n \nHowever, all hope is not lost. There are six more fighters coming in the second volume of the Fighters Pass DLC, and if Nintendo and Square can get Disney to play ball, we might get Sora in Smash Bros. after all.
