As the month of April draws to a close, there are some amazing titles coming off the subscription service. These include Homefront: The Revolution, Sonic & Knuckles, Outlast, and Unmechanical: Extended. If you haven’t had the chance to check out these games, now’s the perfect time before they go away for the foreseeable future.
Homefront: The Revolution is a particularly fun first-person shooter developed by Dambuster Studios. It features an open-world environment with intense guerrilla warfare on display. The battles are pretty intense and the AI will have you using a lot of strategy. The game really shines at painting a bleak atmosphere where authoritarian rule reigns supreme. It is your job to put a stop to super military forces.
Sonic & Knuckles is more light-hearted and gives you the chance to get your retro gaming on. It features 2-D graphics, although they look a lot better than the original graphics back in the 90s.
The gameplay features fun platforming and speedy maneuvers per usual. If you’ve never had the chance to play a Sonic game, this is a great title to start with. You’ll have fun taking down enemy after enemy and seeing Sonic and Knuckles team up in epic fashion. Sure, the graphics are lacking, but the game has a lot of heart and personality.
Outlast is a first-person survival horror game that was published by Red Barrels. The game is chilling from start to finish. You’re Miles Upshur, an investigative journalist who is tasked with checking out a gloomy psychiatric hospital.
The atmosphere was beautifully designed by the developers. You’ll enjoy visiting the various areas, but it should be mentioned that this game is not for the faint of heart. There are scares around many corners. You might not want to play this game in the dark.
Finally, Unmechanical: Extended is a 2.5D puzzle game, featuring stellar platforming and strategy. There are numerous puzzles to solve and the overall aesthetics of the game are quite beautiful.
Again, these games will be leaving Xbox Game Pass at the end of April. If you’re feeling nostalgic or perhaps want a quick scare, these titles are perfect. If you don’t play them before April ends, some will be for sale at a discount.
