The release date for Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Remastered is May 23. Cheering for the samurai action game classic. But the game goes slashing onto modern-day platforms to give sharp graphics, smooth controls, and an all-new difficulty setting that will surely give a hard time to even the toughest of the warriors.
The original director announced it and revealed some details in an interview (check the link)! The new “Hell” difficulty mode introduces a level where a single error means immediate termination. For real, no reschedule nor exoneration! Just merciless violence, the defining feature of the samurai from the peasants.
If you want to step back to 2002, Onimusha 2 centers on Jubei Yagyu, a swordsman caught in a war with demons. With every,’ All PS2′ joke still intact- the tension in swordplay, creating a creepy ambience, and flashy designs of demons; it is like the PS2 version with a spit-shine to boot. Voice acting is still a questionable factor, with original voice acting being terribly charming, but that’s half of the charm anyway.
Quite surprising, isn’t it, the deafening silence? Usually, whenever Capcom announces some news, it’s usually subjected to waves of hype and skepticism, yet somehow this one seems to be in a limbo. Or maybe everyone is sharpening their katanas. Or perhaps Capcom fans are still out of their minds from the last remaster of Onimusha (not that Warlords remaster was a bad one).
Anyhow, the date should be marked on your calendars: May 23. For the faithful fans or just a curious bunch about a long-agony dame vs. demon extracurricularity, the offered remaster is getting to be one bloody good time. Not that you should even expect to be jumping straight into Hell unless your nerves are made of titanium and you carry an extra controller.
So whatever you do, grab a calendar, polish those parries, and pray you live long enough to watch the credits roll. Capcom is sending the pain, and we are 100% here for it!
