Publisher Abylight and developer Dummy Dojo have announced the release date for the iOS launch of Ninja Chowdown on the game’s official website. The game was previously announced with a gameplay trailer, but at the time, the release date was unknown.
In Ninja Chowdown, players control a ninja named Donatsu. As described by the developer, he is a “chubby, yet, agile ninja.” Donatsu is part of the Dough-jo, a donut shop by day and a ninja dojo at night. One day, the Doughnut of Ultimate Knowledge was stolen, and it’s up to Donatsu to get it back.
The game is a colorful neon runner adventure game. The title takes place in a world filled with food-themed clans like the Pizza Pierates, Traveling Rollnins, the Barbacarians, and more. Players can expect a combination of humor and puns.
The game was designed for mobile devices. While players can easily pick it up, it’s even harder to master. The gameplay trailer showcases some of the challenging action to expect.
Ninja Chowdown features 35 levels that all range from 30-seconds to 3 minutes each. Players can further compete with Game Center achievements and leaderboards.
Outside of the action-packed gameplay, players can customize Donatsu. Players can collect pets, outfits, and weapons for a custom adventure.
The game will support multiple languages at launch. They include English, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, German, Turkish, Japanese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Portuguese.
Ninja Chowdown was brought to life in part thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign. The game was 191% funded with 87 backers. The game was already in progress, but the developers were seeking additional resources to help complete the project.
Ninja Chowdown will launch as a free-to-play game. The game will include ads, but players can purchase a single in-app item for $2.99 to remove them. Players who purchase the no-ad add-on will also receive a big bonus as well. The developer states the purchase contains an additional 5,000 coins to purchase clothes, weapons, and pets. The title is currently available to pre-order on the App Store.
Additional news regarding other versions of the game are updated on the official website and Kickstarter Updates page. Most of the updates are for backers only but some are available to the public.
Ninja Chowdown launches on December 3 for iOS.
