The newest expansion pack for The Sims 4 was released via a trailer last week. The Eco Lifestyle EP includes a brand new neighborhood called Evergreen Harbor. The EP focuses on the dangers of pollution and living a sustainable lifestyle.

Like past reveals, the new EP has come with criticism from The Sims 4 community. Many were not impressed by a dirty community they have to clean up, or believed the new EP was done before with Island Living and Tiny Living.

Since the reveal, the “Simgurus,” or developers working on the game, have been answering questions and clarifying any misinformation about the pack.

The newest EP will impact almost every previous world, except for destination worlds where Sims can go on vacation. Strangerville is also excluded because it has a storyline in the world.

If players don’t want their years of hard work being affected by the newest EP, there is a setting to turn it off, similar to other packs. This is set per save.

There was some debate on if the game was introducing chickens. In the trailer, a Sim is cuddling with something fans thought was a baby chick. The Sim was holding a worm modeled after Sago Grubs. Players can’t name them.

An exciting announcement was made on social media during the discussion over Eco Lifestyle. SimGuruGeorge confirmed that ladders would be added as a base game update at launch. The new EP will have an additional variant of the ladders.

Eco Lifestyle will have players thinking more vertically on smaller lots. Along with ladders, vertical gardens are also an option. SimGuruNinja revealed a gif of a Sim slicing a piece of garden-grown meat on the side of a vertical wall. While not confirmed, this may mean new meal options will be added to Eco Lifestyle.

Sims have the potential to make a major change in their communities with community gardens and other eco-friendly objects. Two new careers were added, such as Civil Designer who inspires other Sims to help give back to the environment or Freelance Crafter to make handmade objects to sell online.

As Sims become more environmentally conscious, the smog will lift and reveal a beautiful community.

The Sims 4 – Eco Lifestyle is available to pre-order now, but there are no bonuses for purchasing early. EA does not offer any bonuses or discounts for The Sims 4 DLC, but players will get to preload early. This may be a benefit for players who don’t want to have to wait for the game to download on release day.
