The Second Update of Monster Hunter Wilds is the bomb Capcom has thrown away; yet players are ready to lose it over the monsters, features, and… drum roll, please… a Fender Rathalos Telecaster gesture. For, that is what I said. There is a lot of content in the update, but the most buzzworthy among all seems to be that goofy guitar gesture.
Welcome monster: Not everything has been revealed yet, but players in the meantime wonder what sort of two-legged and insignificant chumps will make it into the actual hunt. Will we get to make one as bawdy as Rajang or as polite as Legiana? Time will tell, but the hype is beyond measure. Meme hype, along with the Rathalos Telecaster gesture already being generated-one user joked, “That Rathalos Telecaster better drop loot and sick riffs,” to which another responded, “Can’t wait to solo a wyvern while pretending to play Smoke on the Water.”
But not all are partying with horns raised. Some are side-eyeing the performance issues. “I’ve read that each update Capcom releases just tanks the performance even more,” said one user. Oof. Meanwhile, the console users seem fine with another blunt statement: “Potato PC.. it works fine on console.” And on the other hand, the Steam reviews sound utterly crazy, with this puzzling fellow asking, “Who’s playing this game can tell me why the steam reviews are overwhelmingly negative?”
The wickedly handy multiplayer saga ensues from there. Obviously, the PlayStation guys are salty about the PS Plus paywall keeping the co-op hostage behind its subscription system. “Multiplayer functionality is locked behind a PS Plus paywall,” another user lamented. There are one or two funny ones thrown in, like the wild request from a player begging for, “Please add the game Guitar Hero 1 2 3.”
But, guys, this might be the funniest: Another player literally requested a dating sim spin-off: “Still waiting for the update where I can date a monster instead of slaying it like why not let me be toxic too.” Uh…Capcom, you there?
In between all varying reactions, the majority are still set to go. “With the detailed updates and new features, it seems like Capcom is really enhancing the player experience,” according to a fan. And judging by the new content, Monster Hunter Wilds looks like it is going to become a monster of a game in literal terms manner.
With that said, now, prepare yourselves for some heavy-duty hunting (and maybe some yet unseen Guitarization) Update 2 is obligated to deliver. Just hope your PC lasts!
