Capcom has cooked up a spicy announcement for Monster Hunter Wilds players: Free Title Update 2 is ready to hit the spot. Or shall we say, filling up with water and blood? Starring two legendary monsters, Lagiacrus and Seregios, this update brings layered weapons, photo mode, and plenty of QoL tweaks. And what’s arriving this summer? Arch-tempered Uth Duna and Festival of Accord: Flamefete. Whew!

Lagiacrus is back in business after centuries of absence! The Monster Hunter Tri fandom community had ever so long pondered the monster’s return, with only its mere mention having set ripples through the community. The other beastie making his appearance from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is the razor-winged menace, Seregios. The gaming community has gone nuts, with many calling this a “WILDS TO END THE MONTH” moment; I do not disagree.

Honestly, though, the monsters aren’t what it’s all about: Layered weapons finally make their arrival, giving people a bit of freedom to dress up their style in-game without compromising weapon stats. Photo mode is a welcome inclusion for those who love to take pictures of their hunts (or fails). There are some QoL changes to their support hunter and handler, but, well, some in the community seem a bit skeptical about those, arguing in a rather heated rant that these changes don’t really ameliorate bigger issues like PC performance or endgame content.

While we’re on PC roads… Yeah. Those ones, definitely. The reply section of Capcom’s tweet is flooded with thorny optimizers with the bitterest comments: “if there’s no fix for PC issues … i guess the game will be done.” Enough said. Some and others say the patches since then have dealt with it to a degree, yet the discussion goes on.

Others are already fantasizing on what’s next. Like, “Can’t wait to hunt Lagiacrus, but honestly what about my old man WHITE FATALIS?” And then we have one who wants event quests that unlock legacy armor sets like Ceadeus and Jhen Mohran. Then one just wants to move the camera while paused. Lovely and simple requests, no?

Sounds wild for the summer update too—Arch-tempered Uth Duna and the Flamefete festival are inbound, and players are already speaking of the chaos sure to be unleashed upon them. Will it be enough to keep the grind alive? Some hunters are weary already; perhaps the update can reignite some interest.

Yeah, so Monster Hunter Wilds is cooking right now. Will it actually satisfy everyone? That Is Debatable. But one thing is definitely worth celebrating alone: the return of Lagiacrus. The game is going to be good if they ever get around to fixing those PC issues.
