With the newest update by Capcom, Monster Hunter now sees one more entrant into the fight. Mina is the newest Support Hunter ready to go into the fight for your team. The usual gun-money for her is Sword & Shield, going for the whole versatility thing. Hit-and-dash or stand still for some nice defense, Mina will support you.
Not to mention, now players can also choose which support Hunters will join in on missions with them. Gone are the days of just crossing their fingers for an okay AI partner. Maybe you have one you love, maybe you have one that you hated; now you get to choose your team.
Of course, the frenzy brought some fiery moments. Wildfire, CoyoteWildfire, was too much for the crowd and yelled, SNS HUNTERS RISE UP, in all caps. The rest? Well, they have… opinions. Miel Moore was telling the devs she was “out of that black guy joining my hunts,” while Joey Smarta$$ (yes that is the name) was begging the devs to “stop wasting time on Support Hunters and work on endemic life displays instead.”
Imagine the chaos in the replies. BigSisFranziska went off on a bizarre tangent comparing Mina to Rise’s Rondine and Minoto with tweets like: “Wielding? Like how Rondine and Minoto wield weapons?” Meanwhile, BasedStandUser was calling out for Hunting Horn Support Hunters to get the sweet buff.
Some are unhappy, though, with how the update was handled. FriedmanMatt_ is pointing out something odd; apparently Support Hunters don’t spawn at quest start now, like in Rise; you’ve got to fire a flare? Sounds like a step backward. Sherm is giving the PS5 connectivity issues a good thrashing post-TU2 because, well, there’s always “something” breaking.
And Mina has style. Chizitobandito sarcastically praises her for her “nice big strong jawline, very feminine,” while many others, including Maddie Hayes BlueM, just love her addition. And, of course, Alex-Arken is already praying for Nadia’s return-the fan favorite.
So, what now? And, then, it will be criminal if they unceremoniously leave Fiorayne out of all the begging for more iconic characters and fixed jams done. But first, Mina’s here to hunt. Will you use her? That’s your call.
